Jenny Nasr @ UN-ESCWA
The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations. It is responsible for coordinating economic and social activities in its member countries which count up to 13: Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
ESCWA works at gathering and analysing statistical and technical economic and social data at the regional and sub-regional level. It also develops policies and plans as a means to help countries design regionally integrated policies. It also provides consultancy services and promotes sustainable development activities in various areas of economic and social productivity.
Jenny Nasr, a fellow alumna who graduated from SJS in 1994, is working as project and research assistant with the Regional Advisory on Agroindustries at ESCWA.
