Ladies & Gentlemen, please fasten your seatbelts

This week’s alumnus, Roger Ghoussoub, class of 1983, will take us on a very interesting and comfortable journey above the clouds. Roger currently works for The Boeing Company in the Commercial Airplane Division in Seattle Washington. He’s a senior Manufacturing Engineer on the Single Aisle Programs, the Boeing 737 and the Boeing 757. He works in Final Assembly where they join the wing to the fuselage and install all the systems (Hydraulics, Engines, Electrical, Environmental Control, etc.) as well as the interiors of the aircraft. When the airplane leaves Final Assembly it goes to the Paint Hangar, Flight Test and then delivery to the airline customer. He’s also the Project Manager of several projects dealing with Lean Manufacturing and has a group of engineers from multiple engineering disciplines that report to him in support of the projects.

Roger has been with Boeing for five years going on six. “It seems like there has not been one day that has not been exciting for me so I will limit what I have to say to the most recent excitement” are Roger’s words. He’s a first year EXPO (EXecutive POtential candidate) who was voted in by senior management as someone who has the potential to become an executive of the Boeing Company. It is a two year program that exposes him to all aspects of the business. The fun part according to Roger is that he gets to meet top executives and go to dinners, golfing, boating etc. and all the perks that come with being an executive. Roger’s most recent adventure was riding on the corporate jet (The Boeing Business Jet BBJ) which they also build. This gives us a feel of what the CEOs life is like. Here are a couple of pictures of that experience and links for anyone that wants to know what the BBJ, 737 and 757 aircraft models are.
