Archbishop Elias Farah rests in peace.
I (Tony Feghali) was heading up to the school to meet the new rector when my meeting had to be postponed due to the immediate news.
I was fortunate to have one last brief encounter with Archbishop Farah two months ago. It was up in the "Moutranieh" waiting for our first SJS Alumni committee meeting. He dropped by and talked to me about the first days of the school in the early sixties. He talked about how different it was to have a school that taught in English in the middle of the Metn.
He commended us for our efforts to pull all graduates together. "You are one family," he said.
The serenity reflected in his eyes during those 20 minutes filled me with hope, courage, energy and perseverance.
This is not a sad day. He had accomplished a lot and ... It was time. He grew old gracefully. I was lucky to see that peacefulness. I wish it on all of us!
