Nicolas Dobroff
Even though he did not graduate from Saint Joseph School, Nick Dobroff nevertheless remains an enthusiastic SJS alumnus eager to share the memories he has of his old school.
Between 1983 and 1985, Nick attended 3rd high, 4th high and part of 1st secondary classes at SJS.
In 1985 he left Lebanon with most of his family to go to Melbourne, Australia. There he finished secondary school and attended university from which he majored with a degree in Literature and Microbiology.
After university, Nick worked in the I.T. industry for 10 years where by chance, he met another alumnus; Abdallah Haddad (now in Brazil).
In 2002, Nick completed a Graduate Diploma in Education and has been teaching at a high school for 4 years now. As well as teaching, he is currently doing research towards a Master of Education degree.
On the personal level, Nick is married to an Australian woman, Naomi, and they have 2 young sons: Tom and Sami.
Nick says: “I truly appreciate the teachers, friends and good times I had at SJS. My experiences there continue to influence my work and relationships at school today. Besides, I am also concerned about teachers' welfare and I am a teachers' union representative. Naomi and I are also interested in politics and we often act as campaign workers during elections.”
