Dear graduating Class of 2009
Dear SJS Alumni,
What a very special moment it is…
Loved ones are getting together to celebrate success… achievement… and certainly God’s love and mercy
Today is the day your other life begins;
Today you become a citizen of the world.
Today you become accountable to someone other than yourselves, your teachers, and your parents.
Today you become accountable to the humanity, to the future, to all possibilities that life has to offer.
Dear graduates,
I can see you in a waiting mode at this moment … eager to depart separate ways, ending a one major chapter of your lives.
I can hear the voice of reality announcing the last call before departure.
I’m sure your luggage is full of memories… sad and happy, academic and cultural… old and new.
Yes indeed, this time… it is a one way ticket to the future.
Starting tonight, your job is to show up wide eyed … willing and ready… for what you don’t know… for anything… for everything… to take on life… to take on love… to take on responsibility and the possibility.
Yes… there will be setbacks and false starts, but you ought to summon a new spirit of academic knowledge… and of community service where each of you pitches in, works smarter not harder, and looks after not only yourselves, but one another, and where better than the SJS Alumni Association to do this !!
SJS graduates are eagles… they are tigers and tigresses, who can always change their falls into wisdom. You will be wounded many times and you’ll make mistakes. Some people will call them failures but I have learned that failure is really God’s way of saying: “Excuse me, you’re moving in the wrong direction.”
You are embarking now on one of the most beautiful experiences of your lives… college life… college years. John Masefield once said: “There are a few earthly things more beautiful than a university”. That is right… what is ahead is certainly amazing
Dear friends, this is not the end…this is just the beginning!
Few things will not stop for sure…
The love and care of our beloved Bishop Youssef Bshara who will be more than happy to hear your great news,
The prayers and wishes of our Rector Father Richard Bou Moussa
And the high hopes every teaching and non-teaching staff member of SJS has about you…
Yes you will meet expectations… yes you will make it…
God bless Saint Joseph for ever…
May you and your families be always blessed…
Welcome to the SJS Alumni Association …
Thank you
